Addressing the Unique Needs of Skilled Tradesmen

Arthur Hall Insurance is one of the leading writers of artisan contractors in the region. We have over 40 years of experience insuring artisan contractors, and we understand what is important to you. We understand the importance of having the correct and the most comprehensive insurance for your business at the best available price. We have the power and resources of regional and national carriers combined with local knowledge and hometown service.

We also understand the importance of providing your Certificate of Insurance when you need it to submit a bid or receive payment on a project. That is why Arthur Hall Insurance has an industry-leading, state-of-the-art Certificate of Insurance program where we promise same-day turnaround on requests received by 3:00 p.m. Our staff understands the importance of getting certificates out quickly so you can get to work. Many of the policies include a blanket “Additional Insured” endorsement, so meeting your customer’s requirements of being named on your policy is not a hassle. Certificates of Insurance can be requested 24 hours a day online, by fax at 610-436-9675, or by e-mail.

Artisan contractors, also called tradesmen contractors, are people and companies such as plumbers, electricians, HVAC contractors, and carpenters who perform skilled construction trade work. Our Artisan Contractor program is for contractors that subcontract less than 35–50% of their work. If you or your company subcontract more than 50% of your work, then you are considered a general contractor by most carriers, and Arthur Hall Insurance has programs specifically designed for this class of business as well.

In addition to the types of basic coverages such as:

  • Commercial Auto
  • General Liability, including Product and Completed Operations
  • Worker’s Compensation
  • Business Property

Some types of coverages unique to the construction trade that we typically provide are:

  • Installation Floaters
  • Tool Floaters
  • Voluntary Property Damage of Property in their Care Custody and Control
  • Off-Premises Storage
  • Transit Coverage

Liability for these Artisan Contractor programs is based on payroll, with a flat amount used for owners, officers, and partners and then actual payroll used for all employees and uninsured subcontractors. No Liability premium is charged for clerical or salesmen that are not engaged in the actual construction or supervision of construction. Arthur Hall Insurance can provide an artisan policy that can accommodate companies with anywhere from several dozen employees to a one-man operation.

Commercial auto coverage is available for your vehicles and can oftentimes be included on the same policy. This allows for the best coordination of coverage, since the equipment and supplies on your truck are not included on a normal business auto policy. There are additional discounts for fleets of vehicles of five or more.

Workers’ Compensation can be provided easily when there is a favorable 3-year history. If you are a new company, just starting up, or maybe have had a few incidents that show up on the workers’ compensation history, we can also help through our alternate market program.
